The common advice I heard was to avoid using it even for housing if possible. <br><br>As taken from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpf.gov.sg\/member\/infohub\/news\/news-releases\/cpf-interest-rates-from-1-july-to-30-september-2026\">CPF website<\/a>, the CPF interest rates for 1st July to 30th September 2026 are <strong><strong>2.5% per annum<\/strong><\/strong> for the Ordinary Account (OA) and <strong><strong>4.0% per annum<\/strong><\/strong> for the Special, MediSave, and Retirement Accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of that,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CPF members aged below 55<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Members earn an\u00a0extra 1% interest\u00a0on the first $60,000 of their combined CPF balances. This is capped at S$20,000 for OA. That means 3.5% to 5.0% per annum for the first $60,000 of your combined CPF balance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CPF members aged 55 and above<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Members earn an\u00a0extra 2% interest\u00a0on the first $30,000 of their combined CPF balances, and an\u00a0extra 1%\u00a0on the next $30,000. The deal is even sweeter for the older members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when I started working and accumulating CPF, I never thought it was possible to invest it thus never did any research due to all the advice I heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My first realization that my CPF had become sizeable was when I was buying my first home. Now looking back, I wished I had paid more attention and read up on the possible investments and understood the policies better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By now you might have heard about the 1M65 movement &#8211; $1 million dollars in your CPF before 65 years old.
